Our Mission:

Having access to wholesome & delicious food is not a right, it takes effort and it takes persistence.

We live in a world where easy & convenient tend to win. Cheap is valued as the most important and it is clear that this way of thinking is dragging our health down, but also undermining the depth of community that a food system naturally creates

Have you noticed?

Drew & I have been on a mission to re-establish a food system that is not only sustainable, but abundant. One that feeds people’s bodies, minds & spirits by not only connecting them with delicious and nutritious goodness, but opens our hearts up to the hands that create it–sinks our souls down into the earth below our feet and fills the void created by the modern disconnect between consumer and creation.

Growing food is healing. Buying food from those who grow it is healing. Eating foods that are wholesome, broader varieties and made with love is the foundation on which great societies can be built. We believe our resilience comes in stripping away excess, paying a little more for quality, and trying to make sure as much of our dollars goes back into our local food economy (and more) as possible.

As part-time farmers, homesteaders & networkers Drew & I have spent years tapping into the local food world, learning about nutrition, avoiding toxins & chemicals and overall finding what we need is so often not contained in the walls of Big Box retailers or chain convenience food stores.

But we’ve also learned that shopping this way is better when you harness the impact of a group.

From this we have decided to gather a group of like-minded folks together: folks who are somewhat obsessed with nutrition, local & community based food-systems. Using Ancestral ways of eating, avoiding pasteurized, processed, shelf stable and lifeless foods for the better stuff–and it isn’t always easier.

How can we fix that?

As a PMA food club we intend to offer a variety of local and whole foods–direct from producers and sourced from as close to home as we can, compromising only for purer options as needed. Sprouted grains, raw milk & dairy, fresh organic veggies, grass finished & regeneratively raised meats–we want the products we bring together to be nutritious for everyone in the supply chain: farmer, animals, land & us. We just don’t think this is too much to ask. AND, we know that money spent here–time invested in this endeavor–it pays dividends in resiliency & health.

What's Included:

  • Just above wholesale pricing on a number of items
  • Group orders of things like locally milled organic/sprouted flours, organic beans & nuts, locally roasted & regeneratively grown coffee, local raw honey, etc)
  • Access to better than organic veggies
  • Access to regenerative grass fed beef products
  • Access to Raw Dairy Products
  • Access to other local creators & makers of convenience and delicious baked, frozen and other made-with-love food based items.
  • Discounted access to our educational workshops and continuing nutrition education
  • Most importantly Community! A group of people who care about all aspects of their food

Our Standards and Practices:

  • Always better than organic. Let's be real that's just a marketing term now. We want no synthetics used at any time on our food or near our food.
  • Regenerative farms. We want the farmers practices to be making the world a better place.
  • Small family focused farms. Farms in our community and from our community. We want to know the faces of the people making our food.

How we maintain the standards:

  • We talk on the phone with the farmers
  • We meet them in person on their farm
  • We check the practices. Being certified in regenerative agriculture, holistic management, permaculture design and years of experience means we know what to look for and the questions to ask.
  • Most importantly we have club tours at the farms! You get to see for yourself and ask the questions.

Cost:

SO, what does it take to be a member of this small community?

  • Annual fee (covers costs of set-up, tech & overhead fees for storage, sorting, etc.) ($175)
  • A commitment to spend at least $50 a month with the club.
  • Delivery/shipping/logistics fees built into the costs (generally 10-20%)

 Why this model?

Local farmers need to sell, but this effort can take time away from their main business which is farming. This food club will make it easier for our local farmers to do what they do–harness their farming practices and provide us with the most nutritious foods available. Having a food club model to sell in quantity also prevents them from being tied up with time at farm markets and the like.

Additionally, our loyalty to purchasing their products ensures they will be able to provide for us even when things are more tumultuous. Grocery stores have what they have and pick no favorites–when they run out, when shelves are empty those who rely on them are out of luck!

Creating a community-food based system is the best way to fortify our food system. Less reliance on third-parties and big ag means we have more say in what we get and how we get it.

A PMA is a private club model meaning we can sell products outside FDA regulation. This may sound dangerous, but it alleviates our need to rely on the agriculture industry to determine what is good, safe & healthy. Our food club will be thoroughly vetting farmers and makers. Sterile means dead, and cleanliness and safe practices don’t require dead food–we want our foods to be alive! Additionally, the restrictive nature of FDA regulation prevents local hunters and farmers from selling many meat and dairy products directly to consumers. Via the PMA, and through membership only, will we be able to sell products like venison & raw dairy.

If all this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, please let us know.
