Rebuilding Local Kosher Food

Pasture-raised kosher meat, shechita services, and educational programs rooted in Jewish tradition and regenerative agriculture.

For generations, Jewish communities knew where their food came from.
Families purchased from local farmers. Animals were raised with care. The shochet was a member of the community. People understood the story behind the food on their table.
Today, most kosher meat comes from large industrial supply chains far removed from the people who ultimately consume it.
We're working to bring something back that has largely been lost.

A Better Way Forward

At Schoolhouse Farm, we raise animals on pasture using regenerative farming practices that improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and steward the land for future generations.

Our goal is to provide kosher meat that reflects Jewish values of responsibility, stewardship, and respect for creation.

What Makes Our Approach Different?

Raised on Pasture

Animals spend their lives outdoors with access to fresh air, sunlight, and pasture.

Regenerative Farming

Healthy soil produces healthy ecosystems. Our farming practices are designed to build soil, increase water retention, support wildlife, and leave the land healthier than we found it.

Small Farm Scale

We intentionally remain small enough to know every animal, every pasture, and every customer.

Kosher Slaughter

Animals are slaughtered according to the laws of shechita by a trained and certified shochet, preserving a tradition that has guided Jewish communities for centuries.

Why It Matters

When you purchase locally raised kosher meat, you are helping to:

  • Support local farmers

  • Strengthen Jewish food resilience

  • Encourage responsible land stewardship

  • Reduce dependence on distant supply chains

  • Create demand for higher animal welfare standards

  • Build a stronger local Jewish food community

Every purchase helps demonstrate that kosher consumers value not only how an animal is slaughtered, but also how it was raised.

Our Vision

We believe kosher meat can be more than simply kosher.

It can be local.

It can support thriving jewish farms.

It can improve the health of the land.

It can provide animals with a life on pasture.

And it can reconnect Jewish families to the sources of their food.

This is our vision for the future of kosher food in North Carolina.
