The 3Fi mission:
There is a cycle of health that starts in the roots, moves through our food & ends with using those energies for creative good. The Field, Food, & Folk Initiative focuses on educating, supporting & encouraging growers, eaters & makers--in no particular order.Â
3Fi supports:
GROWERSÂ in the fields & forests ensuring a future for our children
EATERS in their kitchens, fortifying resilience in how they nourish.Â
MAKERSÂ in all of us, building confidence by learning & teaching craft & skill.
Strengthening Local Food Access
The food system is broken. And we can't wait for someone else to fix it.
Industrial meats & faraway acres of monocultures leave us both under-nourished & reliant.Â
There is a better way. Hundreds of local small scale farmers & producers craft deeply nutrient dense foods that are fresh to order through the Comfoo Food Club.Â
Comfoo helps you know the your food by knowing your farmer--without having to drive all over the Southeast.Â
Comfoo verifies makers & growers are meeting growing & ingredient standards, while also educating members on the benefits of local, raw & underprocessed foods.
Comfoo educates consumers how to eat better, live healthier & make the lives of makers & farmers better through their bi-monthly orders.
Supporting Farmers
There is a wave of small-scale growers and producers hoping to maximize profitability while impacting the land they steward for good for generations to come.Â
Through Permaculture & Regenerative experience, 3Fi is here to support those in these motivated individuals. Through consultation or on campus education opportunities, 3Fi aims to equip crop & animal growers with practical tools to improve their land, economics & future.
The 3Fi campus is on Schoolhouse Farm in Pleasant Garden, NC--a 15 acre silvo-pasture & regenerative dairy/beef farm where field trips, farm camps & farm-based education takes place.
Reviving Folk Skills & Creativity
Emerging research shows that the act of creating something physical is good for the mind & the soul.Â
Humans were created as creators & in the age of technology we have drifted away from trades & skills in favor of mass market & scalability.Â
3Fi offers workshops & opportunities for people to use their hands, develop a sense of capability & confidence while supporting those skilled artisans in sharing their craft.
Fiber arts, basket weaving, carpentry, welding, gardening, herbalism, candle making, sewing, whittling, carving, painting, pottery, blacksmithing, foraging, and more. FFFi aims to offer a variety of opportunities for makers of all ages taught by instructors of all backgrounds. Â
We’re currently seeking teachers. Apply here by email.Â
